MATERIALS
ENGINEER
OVERVIEW:
The
Materials Engineer is responsible for performing materials testing,
metallurgical and chemical evaluation and failure analysis in support of
ArvinMeritor facilities and customers.
Will utilize materials engineering knowledge to provide consultation and
support for all material selection and evaluation activities during new product
development, and to plants in support of the day to day operations and problem
solving.
PRIMARY
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform
materials engineering analyses using microscopy, SEM/EDS, and other analytical
instruments. Prepare technical reports
and recommendations to internal and external customers.

Responsible
for providing materials engineering support to new product program teams to ensure
the product fulfills performance and cost standards.
·
Responsible
for performing root cause analysis and problem solving in support of plant
operations, new product development, and product failures.
·
Communications
of material related findings and recommendations to teams and external
customers.
EDUCATION
AND EXPERIENCE:
·
BS in
Metallurgical / Materials Engineering or Associate in Metallurgical / Materials
Engineering with five years’ relevant experience
·
Experience
with / knowledge of welding processes, stainless steel materials, corrosion
prevention and analyses, SEM/EDS will be a plus.
·
Knowledge
of TS 16949/ISO9000.
