Sherry Laboratories, Inc., a single source network of testing laboratories offering a wide range of third-party metallurgical, materials, microbiological, hydrocarbon, and environmental testing services, is seeking an experienced Metallurgical Engineer to work in our Materials Testing Laboratory in Daleville, Indiana.
The individual hired for this position will be responsible for microscopic evaluation of metals and alloys to determine crystal structure, homogeneity, and other characteristics. The individual will work with a team to evaluate parts and components for conformance to industrial standards. An important aspect of this position is the ability to take the evaluation results and compile them accurately in reports which meet customer requirements and demands.
The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years experience in evaluating microstructures as required by the applicable metallographic standards/specifications along with a Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, or a science-related field. Applicants must be proficient with computers, possess the ability to read and interpret documents, specifications, and instructions, and be able to communicate effectively with customers and fellow employees. Preference will be given to candidates with documented experience in the testing and evaluation of super alloys, titanium, cobalt, and cobalt/nickel alloys. Familiarity with Aerospace Material Specifications (AMS) and Nadcap requirements is a plus.
