Announcement of Chapter Scholarships
The Student Affairs Committee of the American Society for Materials (ASM)
Indianapolis Chapter announces the availability of two scholarships of $1000.00
each. Indianapolis area high school seniors
who are interested in engineering, especially materials science and
engineering, are eligible to apply. The
selection committee will consider a variety of factors including achievement,
scholarship, motivation, potential, and community involvement.
To apply for the year 2010 scholarship program submit the following:
1.
Your name, high
school, home address, phone number, and the college you intend to attend. Please sign your name and date. Please include a short statement describing
why you became interested in engineering and potential career plans.
2.
High school transcript
including cumulative grade point average.
3.
A 1-page, 12-pt font,
paper on the following topic: The Future of Foundries. You will be evaluated on your ability to
research and narrow topic, then focus on what you feel are key issues. There is no right or wrong answers.
4.
Employment experience,
special honors and any other pertinent information that you wish to share with
the selection committee can be submitted in a separate sheet.
5.
Two letters of
recommendations from your science or math teachers. Please have letters sent in envelope sealed and signed
by individual submitting recommendation.
Please put all of the application information in one envelope, and mail
to the address below by February 26,
2010. Application

loose, not bound together. Finalists will be notified in early March.
